Walkley Playground Project

Parents! If you have a free half hour or so on Friday morning, or you're already joining us for the Golden Book assembly, please stay for a short presentation and discussion about our Walkley School Playground Project.

Our outside provision for play is in real need of improvement and there are exciting plans underway to begin to transform the playground areas around the school.

But ( there's always a but...), we need your ideas, inspiration, support and fundraising efforts.

Mrs Hansbury and Mrs Jinkinson will be very happy for you to come along THIS FRIDAY 8TH NOVEMBER at 9.30am

All will be explained!

Kensuke Assembly

Hello Kensukes!
Just a quick reminder about our class assembly next week. Our first class assembly will take place on Wednesday 2nd October at about 9 a.m. We will be sharing some of our fantastic poetry. We would be really pleased to welcome any parents in to our assembly and look forward to sharing our work.

Parachute Making

As part of our science topic 'Forces' we carried out an investigation. We made parachutes of different sizes to see which fell to the ground the fastest. We had to control all the other variables (the materials used, the weight added and the height we dropped them from).

We found out the the larger the canopy of the parachute the slower it fell to the ground.

This is because of the force of air resistance. The larger parachutes had more air resistance acting on them which slowed them down. They all fell towards the ground due to the force of gravity.

Well done Kensukes, you worked really hard on this.

The year 6's have had a wonderful day ice skating and playing in the sun on the Don Valley Bowl. Well done children you were a credit to the school in terms of your behaviour and a fun day has been had by all.
Thank you to Mr. Bowmer for organising the event.
